Module 4 - Lesson Plans and Digital Story

Yo!  Due JUNE 3rd I hope everyone is having a great memorial weekend! Just wanted to get everyone thinking about what kind of lesson they want under our subject this week). The choices we have are... Humans Notable people of history Men Women How we got there Buisness Government Transit/Migration Culture Music Food Family Art Education Religion Animals Wild Birds Migratory Year Long Others Domesticated Working Pets Layout Current Map with Important Landmarks Changes of Map Over Time Landmark changes Topography Our grade level, as determined by the last project is found here . (so 4th/5th grade) Please post in the comments which (Humans, Culture, Animals, or Layout) that you want so we can get this ball rolling! **Post your first and second choice** What do you guys think about doing the Lesson Plan and Digital Story on the same topic, so we don't have to double up our research? Just thinking for the ease of study. 😊

I didn't see our new one posted anywhere on here, so here is the updated one.

Web Evaluations from Aliea

https://wmich.edu/about/kalamazoo http://archive.kalamazoocity.org/history https://www.downtownkalamazoo.org/about-dki/downtown-history The above are the three website that I evaluated. I found that all three could be used to help better our unit project. I really liked the second and third websites because they provided history about downtown Kalamazoo and also some history on fun events that happened right here in Kalamazoo. the first website was from Kalamazoo City Hall and was quite accurate. I think all three of these can really be great in our website collection!

Our Google Map relates to our Virtual Pen Pal Lesson Plan. We choose this map to simply show the distance that our class and their ePenPals would be making when they send each other letters. Beijing and Kalamazoo are all the way around the world from each other. Our students would be learning so many fun and exciting things about the local history of those students who live in China.

ASSIGNMENT VI Websites

Hi all! For appropriate website use for our students to use, I feel that the following would work wonderfully for linking local history, with the kalamazoo region in mind to how the students can talk about their area in the pen pal activity. Kalamazoo Public Library (Local History) Which is the local history buff's around here favorite way to locate old family information be it in person or on the go. They have a lot of interesting facts and documents as well as 3d items that students can look at via the site. My only concern is that I do not think it is appropriate for the younger students, and perhaps specific keyed in links that edit the page to just words and photos with no links would be more appropriate in some cases. We all know that kids like to click around and try to get to other places quickly with technology. (They just want to end up at the games, who am I kidding?). Portage Library (Local History) This site has a very nice scrolling timeline of how people got t
